What is it?
4th and 5th grade students are being challenge to read 40 books by the end of the school year (May 31st). This challenge will inspire students to read for pleasure while encouraging them to explore a variety of genres! The 40 book challenge gives students a choice in what they are reading which will empower them to take control of their learning!
Reading 40 books is a challenge but students are allowed to count titles read in class, at home, and at any other time.

How does it work?
Students have been given a genre chart with 40 boxes to complete. Students are allowed to choose a book that fits into the genre for each box and read it. Once the book is completely read, the student may write in the title of the book and count it as complete. An adult must sign off on each box that students have completed. This can be a parent/guardian, classroom teacher, or Ms. Muse.
Which books can my child read?
Students are allowed to choose any books that fit into teach genre category. Students are encouraged to pick "Good Fit Books." Ms. Muse is available to help students make smart choices about their books in the media center. The point of the 40 book challenge is to encourage students to read books that are a good fit for them and that they enjoy. Books may be from the school library, classroom library, public library, or from home.
